Senator Jeff Flake is Co-Sponsoring Return of Unethical Hunting Practices

House Joint Resolution 69 has advanced to the Senate and its sister resolution, Senate Joint Resolution 18, has picked up a new co-sponsor! Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona. Senator Flake is considered the GOP Senator most vulnerable to a primary. He is up for reelection in 2018 and is under attack from the left and right - meaning he may be in for a rough 2 years.

People on all sides of the political spectrum oppose the unethical hunting practices set forth in Senate Joint Resolution 18. These include shooting wildlife from aircraft, baiting grizzly bears, killing wolves and coyotes during denning season and killing bear cubs and/or their mothers.

Let's make sure that wherever Senator Flake goes, voters know that this is a man who supports killing mothers and baby animals.

EMAIL: Send Senator Flake a comment through his online comment form. You do NOT need to be an Arizona voter. (UPDATE: There are some problems with his website, which hopefully means we are overwhelming it. There have been reports of non-state residents not being able to get through. Please keep trying because people who couldn't get through this morning, were able to subsequently get a note in). Write your thoughts in your own words or copy/paste the script below.

FACEBOOK: Leave Senator Flake a comment on an existing post of his Facebook page, letting him know what you think. Write in your own words (please keep it civil) or copy and paste the following.

IF YOU ARE AN ARIZONA VOTER, PLEASE LET HIM KNOW:

I am astounded that you would co-sponsor a bill rolling back prohibitions on hunting practices that are widely considered unethical. There is no fair chase in killing wildlife from aircraft or bear cubs and their mothers at den sites! The vast majority of Americans - regardless of political affiliation - think these practices are heinous and cross the line. Please withdraw your co-sponsorship on Senate Joint Resolution 18.

PHONE CALLS (ARIZONA VOTERS ONLY): Call Jeff Flake and tell him to withdraw his co-sponsorship of Senate Joint Resolution 18.

  4. The government does it all the time. The government costs tax payers money when they pay government hunters to do population control.I would rather see hunters that pay to do it and put money into conssrvation than tax payers foot the bill. The animals are going to be killed wheather the government does it or hunters pay to do it.California banned Mountain Lion hunting and last year 200 where killed by Fish and Wildlife because of over population. This jounalist is not doing his job and is spreading antihunting propaganda.

  6. Thank you for making this so easy! I sent out a tweet, and emailed him. This is my short message:

    Mr. Flake,

I would like my children to grow in a world rich in the diversity of wildlife you and I have been able to enjoy (or not if we choose not to).

In the midst of the Sixth Great Extinction, the last thing we need to do is make it easier for people with little concern for the future of this planet more freedom to indulge in destroying the Life we have left.

Perhaps you don't care that your image will be associated with killing innocent baby animals who we share this planet with, but most of us would prefer that the image of our society, our country, is not reflected in that wanton bloodshed.
