**UPDATED** CALL TO ACTION: Save Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge/Big Bend NP from Trump's Wall

Trump is moving forward with his border wall by looking to break ground soon on a 3 mile stretch of in the biodiverse Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge. He is using the REAL ID Act to skirt the requirement for an environmental impact report. This refuge is on the bucket list for birders across the country and is home to the endangered ocelot. Building a wall here could drive the ocelot to extinction and damage local bird populations as well as harm the booming eco-tourism economy in the region. (Source from NRDC)

UPDATED: Big Bend National Park is also at risk from having a wall built through it and the bulldozers and chainsaws destroyed critically important, restored habitat at a butterfly sanctuary in Texas, along the border.

GOP Senator John Cornyn is a strong opponent of this wall in an eco tourist region such as Santa Ana  Wildlife Refuge. Let's push him to fight harder against it.

Please stand up for Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge! Stop the Wall; Save the Refuge!

EMAIL: Contact forms for Senators HERE, for your representatives HERE. Write in your own words or copy and paste the script below:

I am opposed to building a border wall or fence in the biodiverse Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge or through Big Bend National Park or on private land without the owners' consent.  If built, this wall could render the ocelot, the jaguar and the Mexican gray wolf extinct and would have a detrimental impact on the other wildlife living in the refuge. In addition, building this wall would damage the eco-tourism economy of the region. Please oppose the building of this wall.

CALL: Find your Senators' phone numbers HERE and your Representative's phone numbers HERE. Ask that your legislators oppose the building of a wall in the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge or Big Bend National Park.

POSTCARDS: Send a postcard to the following individuals:
- Your Two Senators (Find their contact info HERE; send to a DISTRICT office)
- Your Congressman or Congresswoman (Find contact info HERE, send to a DISTRICT office)
In your postcards, identify yourself as a constituent (include your city so they can verify). Write one to three sentences asking your member of Congress to the building of a wall in Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge or Big Bend National Park. Maybe draw a picture of an animal or plant.

  3. We go to the Rio Grande Valley every fall to witness the diverse wildlife and amazing fall bird migration. Of the 338 species that are listed as Nearctic-Neotropical migrants in North America (north of Mexico), 333 of them (or 98.5%) have been recorded in Texas! That's something to be proud of, and worth fighting to protect! #birdnerd <3 U Stacy Campbell! 234 species logged, only 99 more to see. #nature #lifegoals
